Aug 5, 2021 · What is ESP in cars? The electronic stability program (ESP), also known as electronic stability control (ESC), is an active driving safety system which automatically prevents and mitigates road accidents in all driving conditions.
Sep 19, 2024 · The system reduces engine power or applies the brakes to the spinning wheels. ESP uses sensors to continuously monitor factors such as vehicle speed, steering input, and wheel behaviour – and provide preventative power and braking when necessary.
The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) has the task of preventing lateral swerving when cornering or when faced with critical situations, e.g. during extreme driving manoeuvres. The system specifically intervenes in the braking system and in the engine and transmission management and keeps the vehicle on track.
If the car loses lateral traction, and either the front or rear starts to slide sideways, ESP reacts by mitigating the cause of the skid; reducing power when appropriate, and applying individual brakes as required to help force the car to follow the steering angle.
Oct 18, 2021 · The term Electronic Stability Programme® refers to a system made up of several elements which work together to maintain the stability of a vehicle in motion and prevent skidding and rollover. Traction Control Systems (TCS) and Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) are important parts of an ESP®.

Electronic stability control (ESC), also referred to as electronic stability program (ESP) or dynamic stability control (DSC), is a computerized technology [1][2] that improves a vehicle's stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction (skidding). [3] When ESC detects loss of steering control, it automatically applies the brakes to help ...
