The following are guidelines for various aspects of writing article content about video games, established by consensus among Wikipedians. Please discuss them on the talk page if you have ideas or questions.
If you're sure that there is no article or draft available for your topic, then there is just one big task to do before you start writing your first article: you have to gather sources about the topic in order to establish its notability.
- Begin. Go to Wikipedia's Main Page or, if you want to write your article in a language other than English, visit the international page and click on your language.
- Search. First, you'll need to do a search to see if the article already exists - if yours is a popular or well-known subject, the chances are it already exists.
- Results. If an article about your subject already exists, the article will come up now; if no such article exists, you will get a list of search results.
- Think. If no article exists and you wish to create an article, first ask yourself the following questions: Is it a worthwhile subject for an encyclopedia article?Is it notable (will anyone else ever bother to read this)?Is it verifiable (are there other references to it elsewhere on the internet, or in books)?If the answer is 'no' to any of these, do not create the article.
You can look at the table of contents on that page to choose a subject category you know about or are interested in. Choose an article, try to improve it so it matches the good article criteria or even better yet the featured article criteria, which provide models for ideal content and structure.

Typical structure of a Wikipedia article: Your article should be well structured, have encyclopaedic content, which is backed up from reliable, published sources. In the lead section, you should also make the notability of your article clear and emphasise why it should be included on Wikipedia.
