Jul 21, 2015 · Upon smashing a Demon/Crimson altar with the Pwnhammer (Or more powerful tools later on in the game), there is a chance of a single block of your world turning Hallowed or Corrupt/Crimson in a random place, which given enough time, will spread to form new, large areas to deal with.
To destroy a Crimson Altar, a player would have to use a Pwnhammer. When the altar is destroyed, several Wraiths will appear. Update Info. v1.2.3. A few general rules, as it really depends. Always break altars in multiples of 3, as to get a good even spread of each ore teir. (The ore given is in order of teir cobalt/palladium > Mythril/orichalcum > adamantite/titanium. Always leave at least one easily accessed altar up, just in case you need it for crafting.
