  1. Jan 9, 2023 · Ever since the original Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 and swiftly completed by Matt he has been eagerly anticipating another return to the Wild West. The Ties That Bind Us

When approaching Rhodes during Chapter 4, a Stranger icon appears south of the town, just across the train tracks.

At the marker, two prisoners in uniform are fighting. Intervene in the fight to initiate the mission strand.

Having recently escaped, they have bounty posters out for their capture in Rhodes ($40 for each of them), and request that you go into town and remove them. There are five posters in total to remove.

From west to east, these are the bounty poster locations (also identified on the minimap with a special icon when Arthur sees them):

•Poster 1: Inside the Rhodes Train Station

•Poster 2: On a post between the undertaker and gunsmith, obscured by an ornery bystander

Follow up with Mr. Black and Mr. White at their makeshift camp. You'll find them marked on the map as "chain gang" in a wooded area a bit southwest from your first encounter with them.

When approaching the campsite, Arthur has a brief conversation and, holding their fate in his hands, has the option to burn the bounty posters:

•If you burn the posters, you set Mr. Black and Mr. White on the path to freedom, with the potential to cross paths again in the future.

•If you don't burn the posters here, you can retrieve the $80 total bounty ($40 for each) by returning them to the Sheriff's office. You can hogtie the prisoners (you can get one at the campsite, then you will have to chase down the other) and drop them off at the sheriff's office. In doing this, you will end The Ties That Bind Us questline and not encounter them again.

A few in-game days after completing Part II, you can encounter Mr. White and Mr. Black again, this time around Dewberry Creek, near the northwestern border of Lemoyne.

Look for the tent through some trees, they are right up on the creek edge.

Continuing the conversation, Mr. Black requests some medicine to fix their ailments. The conversation prompts you to give them a health cure (and by this point in the game, you should have plenty).

The medicine works its magic, and before long Mr. White and Mr. Black are ready to resume their fugitive flight.

Some days later, in the far western corners of Big Valley, West Elizabeth (west of Hanging Dog Ranch), you can encounter Mr. White and Mr. Black one last time.

Having taken up residence in the Stilt Shack, they've cleaned up and appear to be living comfortably. They will recognize you upon approaching.

Despite Arthur's continued warnings about the persistence of the law, Mr. White and Mr. Black feel safe enough living in a secluded area--although like everything else, this decision tends to be a topic of argument among the pair.

No longer needed, and with their signature bickering behind him, Arthur can be content having helped someone else live free.
