   What is ECF based training?

   • As an ECT, you are entitled to a 2-year programme of training and mentor support as part of your induction. This package of training and support is known as ‘ ECF -based training’ because it is based on the early career framework ( ECF).    Do I need to cover the ECF based training programme?

   • If you’re serving a reduced induction period, your ECF -based training programme can be adapted to suit your circumstances. You do not need to cover the full depth of the ECF. Your induction tutor is the person responsible for ECT induction at your school. Speak to them first if: If they cannot help you, speak to your appropriate body.

   Will the ECF affect the salary in school?

   • The ECF will have no impact on the salary in school and progression will continue as currently. Teach First trainees will still achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at the end of year one of the Training Programme; this isn’t changing. They will also still receive their PGDE qualification and complete the Training Programme at the end of Year 2.
