May 9, 2024 · Unlike current blood glucose meters, the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor measures the glucose in the body's interstitial fluid (ISF). Interstitial fluid is the body fluid between blood vessels and cells below your skin, as seen in the diagram below:

1. Finger pricks are required if glucose readings do not match symptoms or expectations. 2. Sensor is water resistant in up to 1 metre (3 feet) of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes. Not to be used above 10,000 feet. 3.
Population, setting and intended user. FreeStyle Libre is intended to be used as an alternative to routine blood glucose monitoring for people aged 4 or over with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, who have multiple daily injections of insulin or who use insulin pumps and are self-managing their diabetes.
