    When you set up your new device, you can move your data from your old Android device to your new Android device.

    You need an internet connection to copy data from one device to the other. We recommend you connect both of your devices to Wi-Fi.

    • Make sure both of your phones are charged.

    • Get a SIM card tool to swap SIMs.

    • Set aside some time. Data transfer can take from a few minutes to a few hours.

    • Check storage on both your old and new devices. If you don’t have enough storage on the new device, you can choose which data to transfer.

    • Samsung devices have other ways to copy data from your old phone.

    What copies during setup

    Turn on your Android device and tap Start.

    Tip: You can change your phone’s language or vision settings now if needed.

    1. To connect to Wi-Fi, choose from the list of available networks when prompted.

    2. To turn on your data network, insert your SIM card or download your eSIM from your carrier.

    Tip:

    • We recommend you perform both these steps. However, only one of either step is required for data transfer, as long as you have internet.

    To copy apps and data on your new Android device, tap Copy.

    With a cable (recommended)

    Follow the on-screen instructions to connect both devices with a cable.

    Important: If you don’t have a compatible cable, you may need to use an adapter or use the wireless method.
