Jun 24, 2020 · My assumption that it was the updates stems from the updates being installed on 11 June then the wifi not working next time I turned the tablet on. My partner's boss had the same issue on his laptop at work with recent updates. All our other devices work fine on wifi. Coincidence - maybe. I do appreciate your input. Regards. K
I would rather suggest you to perform a repair in-place upgrade on the current operating system, this will just fixes/ repairs the issues with any corrupted system files and will not restore any lost data prior to this. If Windows starts up slowly, runs slowly, or stops responding (freezes) on your Surface, here's info to help you get it working again.
Before you start troubleshooting, do the following:
Disconnect everything from your Surface
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and remove everything you have connected to your Surface—power supply, Typing Cover, accessories, adapters, and memory card. Remove your Surface from the docking station if you’re using one.
Have your BitLocker recovery key ready
Windows might prompt you for your BitLocker recovery key. If you don’t have it, see Find my BitLocker recovery key to learn how to retrieve it.
Clean the connectors on your Surface Book
If any of the following is happening, go to Surface won’t turn on or start:
•The screen remains black when you turn your Surface on or wake it from sleep.
•Your Surface gets stuck on the Surface logo screen.
•Windows doesn't start correctly—for example, Windows goes to the Automatic Repair or the Choose an option screen at startup.
Shut down your Surface
