Jun 28, 2021 · Alchemy Stars follows the basic elemental rock, paper, scissors system: water beats fire, fire beats wood, wood beats thunder, and thunder beats water. When a unit with the elemental advantage attacks another unit, they’ll deal bonus damage.

Attributes are an important aspect of Alchemy Stars. There are four attributes: Fire, Forest, Thunder, and Water. Each Aurorian has a primary attribute, and 6-star and 5-star Aurorians have an additional secondary attribute that gets unlocked with their third Ascension.
Chain Combos can only be triggered when an Aurorian connects enough tiles of their respective element on the Alchemy Board. Only the Captain can ignore this, and release their Chain Combo regardless. But because of that, attributes are an important part of combat, and something to pay attention to when making a Formation.
Depending on an Aurorian's attribute, they can either deal more or less damage to enemies. As seen in the counter circle (left), it shows which attributes are effective against each other.
Attributes that are advantageous against another one will deal 120% of their normal damage against targets with that disadvantageous attribute.
Attributes that are disadvantageous against another one will only deal 80% of their normal damage against targets with that advantageous attribute.
For example, a Thunder Aurorian will do 120% of their normal damage against a Water Enemy. But a Thunder Aurorian will only do 80% of their normal damage against a Forest Enemy.
Nov 8, 2021 · Advanced players may quickly grasp and exploit the advantage of this element. Overall this element is the best and also the worst. In terms of abilities and power, the forest element outperforms other elements but is very complex and becomes a barrier for new players.
Elements in Alchemy Stars don’t really compete with each other; in general, you’ll be running mono-element teams. Each element is well balanced overall, albeit with significant differences in playstyle.
Maybe I skipped some info somewhere, but how does double element on units work? Do their attacks hit both with the primary and secondary element? Or they can traverse the tiles of either of the two elements?
