The Super Mega is the special 50x50 crossword that's part of the annual Puzzle Mania supplement (first Sunday of December, typically). It's only available in print (so not to NYT xword subscribers). Hope that helps.
Took 2 days of work to solve the whole thing, copy in all the clues, and verify the solution, but it's done! (Note that the "metapuzzle" mentioned in the Notepad requires other puzzles from Puzzlemania; it can't be solved with just the crossword itself.)
