(鋼鉄ジーグ, Kotetsu Jeeg?) is an anime and manga series created by Go Nagai and Tatsuya Yasuda. It introduced the Magne Robo series of Takara's Magnemo line (for a while surpassing Chogokin). The series tells the adventures of 25-year old Hiroshi Shiba, a racer and son of renowned scientist Senjiro Shiba. One day Hiroshi is revealed to have been made into a cyborg by his father after a special bronze bell was implanted into him. Along with this, he can change into the head of the super robot Steel Jeeg to fight the evil Jamatai Empire. Hiroshi is assisted by his late father's assistant Miwa Uzuki who pilots the ship that gives Jeeg his body parts.
Later years had Jeeg make a comeback through the Super Robot Wars video games. This stirred up an interest in the anime fanbase and gave rise to a sequel, Kotetsushin Jeeg featuring a new Jeeg model and protagonist. A web manga titled Kotetsu Jeeg Hiryuden has also been released on Dynamic Productions website. A movie titled 'Lo Chiamavano Jeeg Robot' (They Call Him Jeeg) was made in Italy where the main character is compared to Hiroshi Shiba by another character and has won several awards.
•Steel Jeeg was featured as one of the robots in Super Robot Retsuden.
•Originally a crossover movie between Steel Jeeg, Grendizer and Getter Robo G was planned by Toei in 1976 but due to conflicts between the toy sponsors of Jeeg (Takara) and Grendizer (Bandai), it never came to pass, however a short picture book based off of the unmade script was produced in the 70's.
•The cyborg character Shiko Kotetsu from Mazinger Otome is based on the original Jeeg robot with Shiko's father Hiroshi being based on the protagonist Hiroshi Shiba.
•The android Shin Kotetsu from Mazinger Otome Taisen, is based on the new Jeeg robot from Kotetsushin Jeeg.
•In Shin Mazinger ZERO, while Jeeg and Hiroshi are never given a physical appearance, Machine Father from the original series provided a cyborg body for Koji Kabuto after his old body was broken beyond repair, even having the same transformation stance as Hiroshi's.
•The final chapter of Shin Mazinger ZERO vs. Great General of Darkness featured a Photonic Energy phantom of Jeeg performing the Spin Storm.

As a cyborg, Hiroshi's capable of transforming into the eponymous Kotetsu Jeeg, a steel robot head that combines with a variety of external parts to form a giant robot and fight the minions of Queen Himika, leader of the Jamatai Kingdom.

Kotetsu (Steel) Jeeg, or simply Jeeg, is the titular robot of Kotetsu Jeeg and is a Super Robot in The Knights of the Multiverse, introduced in Season1. It is formed from Hiroshi Shiba, who transforms into its head, then combines with parts that fire from the Glomar's Big Shooters.
The narrative follows the journey of Hiroshi Shiba, a young man who transforms into Jeeg, the Koutetsu Jeeg, to fight against the threat of an evil organization. In the end, Jeeg and his allies manage to defeat the main villain, bringing peace and balance to the world represented in the series.
