Jun 17, 2024 · I’m always looking for a way to quench my wanderlust without having to travel too far (or spend too much money) and I think White Star Quarry is such a fantastic solution. It’s only two hours north of Columbus, but it looks like it’s half a world away. Ohio is dotted with former and active quarries.
Generally speaking, the quarry is around 40-50 feet deep with the viz running in the early spring 60+ feet near the middle of the Quarry. There are a number of good things to see underwater: Throne Mountain, Frito Truck, Tunnel, Plexiglass Diving Bell, sail boat, and other items placed there by divers, etc...

White Star Quarry is a 15 acre man made lake with an average depth of 40’ with the center of the quarry approaching 50 Feet. There are two “holes,” one near the wall close to the main diving entrance and the other at the bottom of a stone crusher that are 60’ and 80’ respectively.
The positive thing is that the quarry is nice and deep and the swimming area goes out to 15 feet deep. This is a bonus, as you can actually swim as opposed to just splashing around. The negative side is that this place represents the nanny state at its worst.
