Sixers and Seconders are Cub Scouts who are chosen to take on leadership responsibilities, such as helping new members settle in, or taking charge of a particular game or activity. They are role models for the rest of the group, always there to lend an ear and go the extra mile.
The Six system provides a way of organising a Cub Scout Pack. Ideally, a Sixer should have some qualities and abilities from the following list: Mixes well with other Cub Scouts. Has some experience as a Cub Scout. Sets a good example to younger Cub Scouts. Attends regularly and is reliable.
There are five top tips for being a Sixer or Seconder in Cubs. As a Leader, it is important to check that your young people understand the top tips and what is expected of a Sixer or Seconder. Top Tip 1: Help with the start and close of your meeting. This is a really important part of the Sixer’s responsibilities.
