I found that google maps was extremely accurate with trains. Information included was expected time of arrival and departure, platform numbers, exit number closest to my destination, and surprisingly the train car with the least amount of people/ car closest to the exit.

Oct 2, 2024 · Extremely accurate and reliable. I rented a pocket Wifi in Japan (very fast, unlimited data throughout Japan for about $75 for 10 days) and used my iPhone and google maps to get around. I was able to find my way around Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, and even in Kochi on Shikoku Island.
May 18, 2017 · Google Maps is the most reliable tool I've found for getting around anywhere in Japan. Note though that some major tourist sites are more accessible by bus than by train.
