Per Mesa Boogie, there is a "radical sound and feel difference" between Triode and Pentode. Unfortunately for Mark VII users, the C+ mode will not be able to run on Triode like an '80s original.

It’s a great low/mid gain sparkly/bright cleanish distortion tone, especially for single coils, but it needs to be dialed way differently than the IIC+ or IV modes with which it shares a channel.
