   • Here's a bit of history for you; Season 3 started with some characters stuck in cages - this represented the writers and their feelings of being forced to write this show to a set schedule and time limit (Lindelof said this in an interview long after LOST ended). This was also a time when the ratings of the show began to plummet.

   • About a third of the way into season 3 the showrunners and ABC executives came to an agreement that lost would have a final three seasons of 16 episodes each.
