   Does hh3000 support bridged mode?

   • The HH3000 does not support a bridged mode. It does support the idea of a DMZ but I was unable to get that to work reliably. Rather, my EdgeRouter authenticates to the HH3000 via PPPoE passthrough using my b1 username and password. The HH3000 sits outside of my LAN and has no visibility into my home networks.

   • The easiest way to do this is to plug the WAN port into a network port as well as a laptp with a hardware Ethernet port. In the Bell Home Hub setup screens start by disabling WiFi and UPNP. Then, go into the connected devices section and select Ethernet. Write down the MAC address of the USG as it will be needed for the next step.

   Bell Fibe TV is usually VLAN 36. You would need PPPoE regardless because that’s how they authenticate your account. You would run fiber into a managed switch, then take another uplink with fiber, run it to the box with a media converter and then use the cat6 patch at the endpoint.

   Depending on your perspective, the only downside to the Bell service is that the Home Hub 3000 is required to manage delivery of all services: Television, Internet and phone. Of course, there are ways to eliminate use of the HH3000 but there was no compelling benefit for my use case.

The answer is to abandon mesh and configure the router as an access point (wired) or as a wifi repeater (wireless.) I'd recommend the wired configuration but wireless will work with some limitations.
