- Foreign language anxiety, in particular, may have detrimental academic, cognitive, and social consequences for students (Dewaele and MacIntyre, 2016; MacIntyre, 2017). In other words, worry impedes learners’ proficiency progress and undermines their confidence in the foreign language, which in turn enhances anxiety, creating a vicious cycle.
