- Jerry Maguire (1996) It's the movie that launched a million quotations. Written, directed, and produced by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous), Jerry Maguire's script is based on two separate incidents that occurred in the '90s: The 1991 release of a 28-page memo by Disney's head of motion picture divisions, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and the NFL's introduction of free agency in 1993 (which created an experience for a player and his agent not unlike the one depicted in the film).
