Shigure takes Yuki away from the Sohma Estate to live with him under Hatsuharu request. Yuki has a strong memory from when he was young of Shigure looking at him with indifferent eyes. Shigure never seems to take much interest in Yuki, but then again, Shigure doesn't have a strong interest in anyone but Akito.
Although they live under the same roof, Shigure and Yuki share a casual relationship. Even though Yuki sometimes mistrusts Shigure's intentions and he regularly gets on his nerves, he is grateful towards Shigure for freeing him from the main estate and allowing him to live with him.

Mutsuki is one of the main characters in the series, and his presence adds a new dimension to Yuki’s character development. Yuki’s married life is portrayed as a happy one, and he is shown to be a loving and devoted husband to Machi.
Shigure Sohma is one of the main characters of the Fruits Basket series and cursed by the spirit of the dog of the zodiac. In the Japanese version, he was voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu from original Fruits Basket and currently Yuichi Nakamura & Mari Hino (child) from new Fruits Basket.
