Installing a Ring doorbell is a great way to monitor who comes to your door, right from your smartphone. Ring doorbells use batteries to work and with use, their batteries run low. Luckily, it’s super easy to charge older and newer Ring batteries—all you need is a small, star-shaped screwdriver and a micro-USB cable. Keep reading to learn how to charge first and second-generation Ring doorbells as well as newer Ring doorbells like the 2, 3, 3 Plus, and 4.
To charge first or second gen Rings, use a star-shaped screwdriver to remove the 2 security screws on the device. Slide the doorbell off its mount.
Then, plug a micro-USB cable into the device. The battery is fully charged when the circle light is solid blue, which can take 5-10 hours.
For newer Rings, unscrew the security screw, lift off the faceplate, and release the battery. Plug it into a micro-USB cable and wait for the orange light to turn off.
