Use of a USB/Serial adapter is not supported with these stations. Note that I don't have access to a La Crosse station, and the PC interface on these stations is very poor. If you find that you don't get very good results using Cumulus with one of these, I'm afraid I probably won't be able to do anything about it.

Plug your USB weather station into the Raspberry Pi – USB cable into the OTG connector (via an OTG adaptor lead if needed) if using Raspberry Pi Zero W. If you have an ethernet or WiFi linked weather station then you won't need to do this - I don't have one so I don't know exact details.
The USB is only for powering the GW1000. In Settings, Station settings, Station type select Ecowitt GW1000 and for Ecowitt GW1000 settings enter the IP address and the interval. That should be all there is to it. Yes, GW1000 picks up the various Ecowitt sensors, the extra sensors and data logs are viewable from the dashboard menu.

What operating systems does Cumulus run on?
Cumulus 1 - All versions of Windows from XP to Windows 10 inclusive (and the server versions). It works on 32 bit and 64 bit editions. It may also work on Windows 2000, but this is not supported. You will probably not be able to get it to work on Windows 2000 with a Fine Offset station.

Try setting ‘use active FTP mode’. If you already have it set, try unsetting it. If it was previously working OK, something may have changed on your network, or at the server end.

Are you absolutely sure you have set the ftp path correctly? Most problems like this are a result of an incorrect path. Note that the information in the 'FTP progress' window is not generally useful for diagnosing upload issues' try turning on the ftp logging (on the Configuration menu) and look in the ftplog.txt and realtimeftplog.txt files (in the Cumulus folder).
