Jan 22, 2023 · Firbolgs don’t actually have names! They sometimes go by elvish names when dealing with outsiders but, more usually, they allow outsiders to call them by whatever names they please. Amongst themselves, firbolgs usually refer to each other in the same way they’d refer to the forest’s plants and animals: by their actions and habits.
Jun 7, 2023 · Firbolgs don’t have surnames for dealing with their own kind (same as first names). However, their tribe names refer to their homes. And when referring to their homes when talking with outsiders, they use “whatever name the surrounding folk use.”
Following a similarly literal approach, firbolg family or tribe names generally refer to their homes. However, they craft these tribe names using the terminology of the surrounding population. Among their kin, they would merely call their homeland “home.”.
Though firbolgs in standard D&D lore do not have individual names and only assume them as needed when dealing with others, this is shown to not be the case in the world of Exandria, with even entire secluded clans having family names and individual names for each of their members.
