The Arapaima is a Hardmode enemy that spawns in pools of water within the Jungle and Underground Jungle biomes. It swims much faster than most fish and deals high damage, but it has no knockback resistance, so high-knockback weapons are useful.

I used this money farm from Zuzucorn and it does work, except in his video arapaimas spawn waay more often than they do at my farm. I don't have the lucky coin yet, but that should only affect dropped coins, not spawn rates, doesn't it? Maybe the ocean ground is too far away? Are the trees at fault?

Feb 10, 2017 · Arapaimas will readily spawn on neutral surfaces, but other enemies will occasionally spawn there too. In this case, Stardust Dragon was used to kill them (though I de-summoned it to get the screenshot).
Arapaimas are super common plus jungle increases the spawn rate and so it's just kind of a two for one. Also when you stand in water all fish immediately rush towards you making them easy to trap and farm. Using a lucky coin and slime staff you can make loads of money from this.
Working Arapaima farm 1.4 Journey's End update. How it works is that you're directly connected to the water because the method of just standing on a water and being blocked by something was patched, the thing is, you need to cover up all sand with muds to prevent jellyfish from going up and killing you. Have a great day Terrarians!
This will cause Arapaimas to spawn in the water at a very high rate. When the player stands on a puddle of water built above the Ocean, the Arapaimas will try to attack them, but be unable to do so and instead be stuck just below them, where they can be automatically killed by Minions, Traps and Lava.
