The Teletubbies have two sources of foods, Tubby Custard and Tubby Toast. Tubby Custard is pink colored custard and Tubby Toast looks somewhat like a smiling, chocolate cookie. The Tubby Custard is stored in a machine with many various, glowing buttons, and the Tubby Custard comes out of it.
In real life, the Tubby Custard is not edible, as it is made of mashed potato with red and yellow acrylic paint. Neither is Tubby Toast which is made out of foam. This is done knowing that they don't actually eat the Tubby Custard along with the Tubby Toast, since actual food can damage the costumes.
