I believe the ropes are made by the French brand "Cousin" but then sold as Simond by Decathlon. Also, all the hard gear (carabiners, ice axes, crampons...) are made by the original Simond factory in Chamonix, they've been around since 1860!
Oct 20, 2016 · Well Simond don't (or certainly didn't) produce their own ropes - as far as I know they are manufactured by Cousin (I think, though I'm not absolutely sure???) So the comment would be better worded '... don't know how they can sell for that price.'
Feb 27, 2019 · There have been a few threads about Decathlon Simond ropes. I recently bought a Simond 8.9mm 100m rope from Decathlon for a trip to Chulilla. Having been to Chulilla before I wanted to make the most of the 50m routes without having to do intermediate lower offs.

Like several brands, Simond do not make their own ropes, instead they are made for them in northern France by Cousin, a long-standing rope manufacturer. Technical. The Simond Edge is a 8.9mm CE certified climbing rope, and meets the UIAA standards for use as a Single, Half or Twin Rope.
The Simond carabiners and ropes ARE in fact properly CE and UIAA tested. There's a pretty simpel reason for that: no climber in their right mind would ever consider buying one of those things without these norms.
