Loved the book, horrible ending. King does the claustrophobic 'small town life gone wrong', and ordinary people's characters intensifying under stress, for better or worse, better than almost anyone, and the Dome just intensifies that. But the ending just sucked.
I haven't read Under the Dome since it first came out, but my problem with its ending was that it was a deus ex machina.
I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it..... Except..... The guy that reads it (can't remember his name) did too good of a job voicing Big Jim. Of all the King books I've listened to, he was the first character I had an immediate reaction of " I hate this guy already!". And it's bc the voice acting is spot on.
