Harry Horner (July 24, 1910 – December 5, 1994) was a Czech -born American art director who made a successful career in Hollywood as an Oscar -winning art director and as a feature film and television director. [1] He was the father of Academy Award -winning film composer James Horner.

Horner gave up directing in 1959 and turned full-time to art direction. From that point on, he produced wonderfully detailed and nuanced designs in a variety of genres. For The Hustler (1961) he created a dark world of seedy pool hustlers and small-time criminals; and he won his second Oscar®.

When Reinhardt moved to the United States in the early 1930s, Horner went along with him. During World War II, he served as production designer and set designer for the U.S. Army Air Forces show Winged Victory. He won an Oscar in 1949 for his work on William Wyler's The Heiress and another in 1961 for Robert Rossen's drama The Hustler.
