- Majin Buu. What’s notably about Majin Buu’s death is that Dragon Ball refuses to let it be final, with Goku’s request for reincarnation actually honored by the end of the manga.
- Yakon. Goku’s fight against Yakon seems inconsequential at first, but it’s actually the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Vegeta. Back in the realm of the living for a single day, Goku is set to fight Vegeta at the quarter-finals in the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai only for the tournament to be hijacked.
- Future Frieza. This fight never happens in the main canon, but that’s only because Future Trunks misreads the situation and jumps the gun. With no way of knowing that Goku knows Instantaneous Movement and Frieza already landed on Earth, Trunks rushes in to save the day.
- Piccolo Daimao. Powered up and exactly as strong as Piccolo Daimao, Goku puts up an incredible fight against the Demon King. This is arguably the fight the entire arc was building up to and it by no means disappoints.
- King Piccolo stops his heart. This event happened in Episode 109 of the anime, titled “Goku vs. King Piccolo,” and an adaptation of Chapter 143 of the manga titled “Goku vs. The Demon King.”
- Killed by Piccolo alongside Raditz so that the latter coulf be killed for good. This event happened in Episode 5 of Dragon Ball Z, titled “Gohan’s Rage,” and was an adaptation of Chapter 203, titled “Sayonara, Goku,” when the manga came out.
- Killed by the heart virus. This actually refers to Future Goku, whose death occurred in Episode 164 of Dragon Ball Z, titled “Ghosts from Tomorrow,” and which adapted Chapter 387 of the manga, titled “The Balance of Power.”
- Sacrifices himself to defeat Cell. Goku again died in Episode 188 of the Dragon Ball Z anime titled “A Hero’s Farewell.” This episode adapted Chapter 412 of the manga titled “The End of the Cell Game.”

Goku and Android 18 defeat Super 17. The Dragon Balls crack and the Shadow Dragons are released. All except one of the Shadow Dragons are defeated. Syn Shenron absorbs all seven Dragon Balls and becomes Omega Shenron. Goku battles Omega. Vegeta arrives and ascends to Super Saiyan 4. Goku and Vegeta fuse into Gogeta.
