Deri, a hamlet in Gelligaer parish, Glamorgan, 5 miles N of Gelligaer. It has a post and money order office under Cardiff; telegraph office, New Tredegar. There is a mission church, and Baptist, Congregational, Wesleyan, and Calvin-istic Methodist chapels.
Deri is located in the county of Gwent, Wales, two miles north-west of the town of Bargod, 14 miles north-west of the major city of Newport, 16 miles north of Cardiff, and 136 miles west of London. Deri lies roughly one mile north-east of the Mid Glamorgan border, and was historically in the county of Glamorgan.
Church records show that in 1849, "Ysgwydd-Wyn was a hamlet, in the parish of Gellygaer, in the hundred of Caerphilly, county of Glamorgan, South Wales, 5 miles South-East of Merthyr-Tydvil; containing 123 inhabitants and situated on the right bank of the river Romney, near its source.
