Custom emoji's have a different way to refer to them for bots. For example, as users we type @SomeUserName#9999 to mention someone, but that gets translated into <@1234567890>, and that's how bots send mentions. In the same way, custom emojis are represented by (iirc) <:name:emoji_id>.
