Aug 1, 2021 · In No Trumps, Misere or Open Misere, the joker may be used in one of two ways: A contractor who holds the joker can nominate which suit it belongs to. The nomination must be made at the start of play, before the lead to the first trick. The joker then counts as the highest card of that suit.
In each round, the highest-played card of the led set wins. However, if the Joker is played, it automatically wins the check, as it is the highest-ranking card regardless of the set. Players earn points for each trick they win, with additional points awarded for correct bids. A player wins when they have secured 13 tricks or 260 points.
