Aside from The Eye and other horror films, the Pangs made two more edgy Thai crime films in the same vein as Bangkok Dangerous, Danny with 1+1=0 and Oxide with Som and Bank: Bangkok for Sale. Together the three crime films form a loose "Bangkok Trilogy".
Originally named Som and Bank: Bangkok for Sale, the film is part of the loose "Bangkok trilogy" by the Pang Brothers, which includes their Bangkok Dangerous and Danny Pang's 1+1=0 (Nothing to Lose). Som and Bank had been completed in 2001 before production commenced on their ghost film, The Eye.
