Steam points are a fine idea, just executed horribly. If all I can do is buy cosmetics with it, and the cosmetics come out at a drip pace, then they're pretty useless. I'd much rather see them open a points market where you can buy games, vouchers, coupons, DLC, Steam Trading Cards, and collectibles.
Aug 28, 2020 · Again its awarded by STEAM, it has nothing to do with the games. It makes absolutely no sense for Game X to reward you for spending money on other games that aren't even theirs. That's like going to red lobster and getting loyalty points and expecting pizza hut to give you a free pizza for them.

Because of the free booster packs. Every couple of days a dice gets rolled that grants you a booster pack if you are online. The chance of said dice landing on a free pack is based on your Steam level. Every 10 levels the % increases by 10%.
Points system is great cause it's just an added bonus you get for buying games. I also like the idea of buying game backgrounds/emoticons with points. It's useful if you want to get a specific background, but don't like the game badges or the randomness of stuff from crafting them.
