   What do you like most about Penguin Books?

   • I really like them--especially the work they are doing with book design. A lot of "classic" series are quite ugly, but Penguin is hiring actual artists to design their books. I also like Everyman's Library, which is probably higher quality, but a bit less creative in execution (they are still attractive, though).

   Should I buy a second hand Penguin Book?

   • Best to aquire most books second hand from a trusted range... Older made penguin classics are fine. I have two penguin classics books, Of mice and men and the Call of the Wild. Two seems to have very different print quality despite one printed in 2008 and the other in 2010. the one with bad quality I bought from Booktopia, as a trial.

   Are Penguin Classics sacrificing quality?

   • Companies are sacrificing quality for lower costs while still charging the same (or more). I suspect that the mainline Penguin Classics line has seen a dip in production quality while they put a bit more quality in the Deluxe products. To me, it's not even about the paper, but sometimes the binding is just so tight it makes it an effort to read.
