- Maigret books (by Georges Simenon) translated into English. The "aka" titles are the current ones used by Penguin for their recent (new) translations. If there're no "aka" for books then those titles are also the Penguin ones.

Jules Maigret (French: [ʒyl mɛɡʁɛ]), or simply Maigret, is a fictional French police detective, a commissaire ("commissioner") of the Paris Brigade Criminelle (Direction Régionale de la Police Judiciaire de Paris:36, Quai des Orfèvres), created by writer Georges Simenon.
Georges Simenon's Inspector Maigret book series in order, with the latest releases, covers, descriptions and availability.
- The Night at the Crossroads (Inspector Maigret #7, 1931) aka Maigret at the Crossroads. Maigret investigates the murder of a diamond merchant just outside of Paris at a foggy junction called Three Widows’ Crossroads.
- The Grand Banks Café (Inspector Maigret #8, 1931) aka Maigret Answers a Plea. Maigret is on holiday when a friend asks him to look into the murder of a ship’s captain in a nearby port city.
- Maigret's Dead Man (Inspector Maigret #29, 1948) aka Maigret’s Special Murder. One day, a panicked man calls Maigret from several different cafes claiming that he’s being followed.
- My Friend Maigret (Inspector Maigret #31, 1949) aka The Methods of Maigret. While an inspector from Scotland Yard is visiting Maigret to study his methods, Maigret investigates a murder in the south of France.
Jules Maigret or better yet known as Inspector Maigret is brought out as one of the best detectives that France has ever seen. This fictitious character created by Georges Simenon covers a carrier in law enforcement that spans a period of close to forty years.
- Pietr the Latvian. In Simenon’s first novel featuring Maigret, the laconic detective is taken from grimy bars to luxury hotels as he follows a trail of bodies and traces the true identity of the elusive international criminal, Pietr the Latvian.
- The Late Monsieur Gallet. Investigating the circumstances around the death of a certain Monsieur Gallet, Maigret finds that much of the man’s life was a lie: the name he travelled under and even his stated profession.
- The Hanged Man of Saint-Pholien. On a trip to Brussels, Maigret unwittingly causes a man’s suicide, but his own remorse is overshadowed by the discovery of the sordid events that drove the desperate man to shoot himself.
- The Carter of La Providence. Maigret is standing in the pouring rain by a canal. A well-dressed woman, Mary Lampson, has been found strangled in a stable nearby.
When the agitated young thief leads Maigret to the body of his wife, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, he implores Maigret to take the case. Unsure whether he can trust him, the inspector becomes embroiled in a most unusual murder investigation.
Aug 15, 2019 · One memorable story is for three quarters of its length a description of a single interrogation in Maigret’s office at the Quai des Orfèvres. It is Simenon’s greatest achievement that this variety of different story-types all feel as though they belong in a single coherent world.
