Beats gets a lot of hate in many places for a few reasons. They often only care about mid bass and nothing else. Even sub bass is very lacking despite their bass heavy sound. Build quality is abysmal. From the people I've talked to who work retail, no brand of headphones gets returned broken more often than Beats.

Aug 14, 2013 · The Studio 2.0`s are actually reasonably sensitive for an over ear headphone, a few volume steps more sensitive than the Oppo PM3`s. They have no need for amping either as they are internally amplified. This is both a positive and a negative as the internal amp is pretty poor.

Headphones like the Sony xm3/4/5 are out, as are the Sennheiser Momentum 4, Bose nc700 because I am very much against any touch control. I’ve been seriously considering hr Bose QC45, simply because a lot of people (not just Beats haters) said the Studio 3s are actually worse in sound quality than the Studio 2.0s.
Rule 1? So as everybody here knows, beats have a reputation for being incredibly bass heavy with lacking mids that only do good when listening to hip hop/rap. But I have heard that the Studio 2.0's have increased the sound quality by a very noticeable amount and you can sometimes find the headphones for $200 on amazon.
May 15, 2008 · Well, Beats have nowhere near the sound performance as many other things at their price point. The only headphone I found to be good was the Solo 2, but it's only on ear. You may prefer the sound, but the treble of the Studio 2 is awful, and the headband feels pretty bad to me.
