In 1912 when he was 17 years old he began a career with the French film company Gaumont Newsreel in New York City as their first American cameraman and would later work for the Selznik Newsreel group.

Darmour was born in Flushing, Queens. In September 1927 he released the first entry in the Mickey McGuire series of short subjects, starring a young Mickey Rooney. This series would run for seven years, through about 23 silent shorts and another 40 sound shorts.
Sep 28, 2023 · In late 1941, Larry Darmour underwent abdominal surgery, from which he never recovered. Fox Feature Syndicate declared bankruptcy on March 6, 1942. Darmour died two weeks later.
