Hawaii's star surfer Carissa Moore won her opening heat at Shidashita Beach, then cruised through the tournament bracket against opponents from Peru, Brazil and Japan.

Across these new additions, Team USA earned 10 medals. The 2020 Games also marked the return of baseball and softball.
