All I can think is that he’s ambitious? However, the way his ambition manifests is so off-putting that it’s hard to call it a “redeeming” quality. Also, I’m on season 6 so perhaps he redeems himself by the end of the series.
I think as Carmy grows more, he will come to appreciate Pete more. I think Richie will always roll his eyes at him though, and that's ok. Pete does need to be a bit tougher around Richie, or if he won't be, needs to understand he's always going to get beefed on.
While I don't think Pete's a particularly good guy, I think he's on about the same level as anyone else in the company. He sleeps around and does whatever he can to succeed, because this is what he sees peoples like Don and Roger do.
