May 24, 2024 · Pepper for me, regardless of the wide disdain for Giles mix. When Pepper remix came out 2017 it opened a new world of listening to this infamous album. It's more like a hybrid stereo-mono mix, because Giles left some of the 1967 mono elements in the new 2017 remix.
I think Giles mix does enough to open up Spector’s mix to make it sound less like a wall of sound and more like over indulgent accompaniments to make it worthwhile. It definitely makes the Spector far more listenable.
