4. On my device, when I check the phone number through Settings > About Phone > Status > SIM Status, the phone number is incorrect. I ported my number over when I took out a new contract so I guess this is the number originally associated with the SIM. Is there any way to change this? EDIT: Device is a Nexus 6P running M 6.0.1, no root. settings.
Jan 19, 2022 · @worthingtonducote: The number shown in Settings > About Phone is automatically generated by the registered SIM card, and cannot be manually changed. On occasion, a read error can cause the wrong number to show here, or it will say 'Unknown' where the number should be populated.

You can add, update, or remove phone numbers on your Google Account. 2. At the top, tap Personal info.
3. Under "Contact info," tap Phone number your phone number.
4. From here, you can:
• Add a phone number: Under "Your phone numbers," select Add recovery phone. (We recommend that you add a recovery phone number if you haven't already.)
• Change your phone number: Next to your number, tap Edit Update number.
