On September 1st, 1999, Disney Channel in the United Kingdom received a brand overhaul as the channel adopted a new circle-based logo, with three symmetrical ellipses forming the iconic Mickey Mouse head shape. Along with the logo change, a new ident set and on-air design package, created by French design agency Gédéon, was introduced on the same day. The branding was carried over to other Disney Channel international networks beginning on September 5th, 1999.

According to Gédéon, the then-new logo was also described as an "experimental field for animation". More than 30 illustrators, animators, graphic designers, directors, and motion graphic studios, such as Gamma Studios and Velvet mediendesign, collaborated with the project. 40 idents had been created for the standard design package, which highlighted three distinct programming blocks in Disney Channel international networks' daily schedule: Preschool Zone, Kids Zone, and Family Zone.

The Circles idents feature three circular objects forming the Mickey Mouse head shape. Each ident is created using various animation methods, including CGI, live action, and / or traditional hand-drawn animation. The idents are accompanied by the "Disney Channel" text on the bottom of the logo, in which the "Disney" text is displayed in Walt Disney's signature script and "Channel" in Globe Gothic Bold Condensed. All idents also include a variation of the 3-note jingle (E-G-C), which was first introduced with the previous on-air design package on March 22nd, 1997.

Beginning on January 1st, 2000, all regular idents feature the URL of a Disney Channel International website depending on the region or country. Various special idents and trailer endboard logos for specific programmes (and occasionally Disney's theatrical/home video releases) were also made during the era.
