Trouble is, I'm a bit unsure about buying a brand new home in general, as I've heard that you can be more likely to make a loss upon reselling as the house usually depreciates in value once you've moved in.

  5. Sep 16, 2020 · The house was built in 1997 by Barratt homes and there is a number of restricted covenants that are for an indefinite number of years. One of them regards alterations to the property, it says no alterations can happen without approval from the transferor. But many of the houses in the road have had extensions, conservatories etc.

  7. Barratt Homes then decided to withdraw our contract and re market the plot. As you can imagine we kicked up hell when we found this out as we had paid over 2 thousand pounds as deposit for extras, agreed to move into temporary accomodation and switch our mortgage, incurring a £3,600 exit fee as our current provider could not provide us with an offer in time for the 28 day exchange deadline.

During my chat with the sales rep, I was querying whether he could offer me any incentives such as flooring/kitchen appliances etc. He advised that Barratt do not offer any incentives whatsoever as the plots as selling well.
