Wrinkles (Spanish: Arrugas) is a 2011 Spanish adult animated comedy-drama film directed by Ignacio Ferreras, based on the comic book with the same title by Paco Roca. The story is set in a retirement home and revolves around the friendship between two elderly men, one of them in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease .

Dementia, and particularly, Alzheimer's are an increasingly urgent issue for the developed world and this has lead to a burgeoning number of films on the subject.

Apr 23, 2014 · My self-condemnation did not last long, as I realised what a breathtaking movie I’d chosen. However, the feelings of deep sadness did persist. It is not often that I sit through troubling films, but ‘Wrinkles’/ ‘Arrugas’, a Spanish film focusing on the lives of two older people in a nursing home, had spoken to my growing interest in neurological conditions and residential care.
