I was a happy & confident girl. I still remember the time when I was 6, our teacher asked if anyone would volunteer to perform in our school’s annual celebration. I had no idea what to perform, but my little mind was like “me, Me, ME!” So, I jumped out of my chair and shot my hand high in the air. Then, I realized, I was the only one. 😛
When I was 8, my family decided to leave everything behind – my grandparents, friends, teachers – and moved to Canada. I was torn. More so, I couldn’t speak English. The few phrases I knew were “Hello! My name is Amy,” or “I am a girl.” Thankfully, I had some of the most amazing teachers and friends who got me through the tough first year.
Then, at the age of 9, I was diagnosed with genetic hearing loss and tinnitus. Tinnitus is a condition with constant noise or ringing in the ears. So far, no cure exists.
