Currently, The Sunset Limited is my favorite McCarthy story, but that may change as I begin rereading his works. I really enjoyed the movie adaptation and actually watched it before I read the book. Though the story may not be for everyone, I thought it was really engaging.

I was blown away by how the HBO film, The Sunset Limited, filmed entirely in one room, was so uniquely captivating. Samuel Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones are both brilliant in this film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's play.

The film is a perfect example of effective stage-to-screen adaptation, based upon the stage play of the same name written by Cormac McCarthy, the extraordinary writer responsible for THE ROAD and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.
The Sunset Limited is two guys in a room talking to each other for 90 minutes. They discuss the unique situation they're in, and then debate their differing views on the world. And it's pretty good overall, even though I think there were risks of something like this being boring or pretentious.
