It’s on Netflix if you wanna check it out. The movie is, no-joke, Birdemic levels of terrible. I remember reading the book when I was very young and then avoiding the movie, because it looked like they took a simple tale told in a kind of abstract way and turned it into The Hunger Games.

Apr 17, 2022 · So, short answer to ‘is “The Giver” considered a good movie’: strictly from a film/filmmaking standpoint, not really. Like you said, the movie progresses a bit weirdly, among a few other things that make it just… not great. However, I thought the essence of the ideas and the themes portrayed in it was amazing.

Jul 15, 2022 · Movies like The Giver (2014) I watched this movie maybe 3 times. The thing I like about the movie is that humans emotions and feelings are what makes them humans. They cannot act like robots. And in that movie the main character get that independence by escaping. Please suggest such movies.
The Giver Quartet has four books. Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son. Personally I think Giver and Gathering Blue are the best two. Gathering Blue takes place in a completely different dystopian village than Jonas’s but the third and fourth books have reoccurring characters from the first two.

Sep 13, 2014 · The Giver has been my alltime favorite book for the past 20 years (I'm 30). So I was really looking forward to seeing the movie, especially since I love Jeff Bridges. I enjoyed the movie, but it was also hard to watch for me.
Aug 24, 2014 · Semi-spoiler: While I haven't read any of the "sequel" books (they're not direct sequels, but are loosely connected to the Giver and take place after it), I know it's revealed in one of them that Jonas is in fact alive. However, because of the nature of the movie, I don't know how compatible the sequel books are with that of the movie. /Endspoiler
