- He’s a quiet, family man. Away from the pitch, Rooney is generally shy and retiring, and spends most of his time with his family – wife Coleen, and sons Kai and Klay.

- He was pretty good in school. Debuting for Everton at 16, school was never the biggest concern for Rooney, but his mum didn’t let him skive. “He was never allowed to be off,” she says, looking at his 95% attendance record.
- He would sneak out of the house to practice as a kid. Rooney honed his skills at a local 5-a-side pitch, where he used to hop over the back fence and sneak in to play on his own.
