This film begins with a stranger known only as "Kid" (C. Thomas Howell) getting off the bus in a small town and promptly heading for the local grocery store. While there he is harassed by two young men named "Pete" (Damon Martin) and "Harlan" (Michael Bowen) but walks out without creating a scene.
